Psychology Today helps you find a therapist by almost any search criteria except race, but many therapist provide photos, so you can ask them a few questions.
I like to read through BP Magazine sometimes because they have some good info and sometimes a few movies. They are very positive when it comes to their writing style, but the comment section can become a little overwhelming.
If you live in the Greater NY area and are looking for a Black/African-American psychiatrist and mental health organizations. This isn’t a very thourough site, but it is a great start and offers a lot of mental health organizations you can call and speak with.
I added DBSA because they provide free support groups through out the country. They even offer ones for professionals. When in Chicago, I went to a few in the evening.
If you are looking for a counselor that is faith based counselor that also has a psychotherapy framework, than the AAPC site provides a search engine to look for a counselor in your area.
I am based in Philadelphia, so the following resources are Philadelphia specific. Thanks to the Department of Behavioral Health & Disability Services for providing such a thorough search engine. I am going through each resource, but hopefully I will be completed in less than a week. I do not know all of these non-profits, but will give feedback under the ones I do have knowledge of.
